Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth and are supported by the remaining teeth and gums. Full dentures replace all the teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw or both. Before treatment, your dentist will assess your mouth, gums, remaining teeth and bite. We will discuss your concerns, the different denture options available, suitable materials, expected costs and any alternative ways of replacing missing teeth. Creating dentures normally involves several stages so that measurements, impressions and trial fittings can be completed. New dentures can take time to adjust to, and follow-up appointments may be needed to check their fit and make appropriate adjustments. Dentures require daily cleaning and careful handling. Your mouth and any remaining natural teeth should also be reviewed regularly, as the shape of the gums and supporting tissues can change over time. Dentures may eventually require adjustment, repair or replacement.
